Thomas Partey’s performance against Tottenham was heavily praised by former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva.
The Brazilian has insisted that the Ghana international is the best defensive-midfielder he has seen don a Gunners shirt since he left the club back in 2008.
“I guess so. In my opinion, I agree with you,” he told Astro SuperSport. “He’s a good player. He’s the type of player Arsenal were missing, I’ve spoken a couple of times about it.
“They have good players in the [central midfield] position but not to sit and give Arsenal the stability they have.
“Look at the game [against Spurs] it was great to see how he managed his game, how he managed that position, helping [teammates].
“You know what is very important about this particular position? This is a very particular position because not every time you get the credit you deserve.
“He’s a good player. He’s the type of player Arsenal were missing, I’ve spoken a couple of times about it.
Edu decides Arsenal’s next two moves
According to a report by the Express, Arsenal are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka, so much so that they have already held talks with his representatives.
The France Under-21 international, who joined the German outfit from French club Auxerre in 2018 for just under £5million, has been a regular fixture in the Frankfurt defence this season, racking up 17 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with two goals.
But it’s not just N’Dicka that is on the Gunners’ radar ahead of the summer window as Brighton & Hove Albion midfield ace Yves Bissouma continues to attract interest.
The Express reports that Arsenal have been asked to be ‘kept informed’ of his situation ahead of the window opening.
Back in January, football.london reported that Bissouma is a player the Gunners are keen on and that he would be open to the idea of joining Arsenal if the opportunity arose.
Interestingly, former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes Bissouma would be the perfect midfield partner for Partey.
“I think Arsenal could do with a player like him, for sure,” Campbell said on Amazon Prime after the Gunners’ win at Brighton back in December. “I think Thomas Partey needs a partner in the midfield with energy and I think that he would fit that bill perfectly.”
