Tomas Soucek has fired a warning to Manchester United that West Ham are looking to take all three points home from their trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Czech midfielder has been the standout performer for his side this season in a campaign which has seen ex-Red Devils boss David Moyes lift the Hammers into Champions League contention.
Despite their standing in the table, few predict Moyes’ men to achieve what would have been unthinkable prior to the season starting.
And with a place in the Europa League still at stake, you could forgive West Ham for pitching up in Manchester intent on playing for a draw.
However, Soucek says that kind of approach is simply no longer in their thinking.
“We are preparing to beat a team like Manchester United,” he told West Ham’s official website. “When I came here it was a little bit different, but now the mentality at the club, the spirit, is really good and we’re going into each game with the win in our heads, so that’s great.
“We don’t want to lose a pass, or any game, and we all want to transfer that to the guys. The guys know it because the table shows us when we have a good mentality, we can get good results.
“We are all really happy with how the season is going so far and we’re really enjoying our time.”
Lingard has already scored four goals in just six appearances since his switch in January, but the Hammers will still have the scoring prowess of Soucek to call upon.
The 26-year-old has netted eight times already this season – just one fewer than Marcus Rashford in the Premier League – and Soucek credits his manager for instilling him with confidence.
“I’m very happy that I came to David Moyes because he has been helpful from the start,” he added. “He speaks to the guys like a friend when we get a coffee, and he gives us belief and trust in ourselves.”
For Moyes it is another return to his old yet brief stomping ground where he spent an ill-fated 10-month spell in 2013/14.

Solskjaer includes Ronaldo on dream-signing list
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has picked out Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane as the two Manchester United legends he would most like to have at his disposal in 2020-21.
The Red Devils boss, who formed part of the legendary 1999 Treble-winning squad at Old Trafford, played alongside a number of iconic figures before hanging up his boots in 2007.
Peter Schmeichel, David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney are just some of those that the Norwegian could have selected when quizzed on dream signings , but he has plumped for midfield steel and serious goal threat in his selections.
