Manchester United will be looking to strengthen their grip on their place in the top four when they welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Sunday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side go into the match six points ahead of West Ham and know a positive result is crucial if they are to strengthen their hopes of Champions League qualification.
United are looking to complete their first league double over West Ham since 2013-14, when they were managed by current Hammers boss David Moyes.
In terms of early team news Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani are all doubts.
It is worth Solskjaer considering a change of shape, given the paucity of attacking options at his disposal.
If Rashford and Martial are indeed injured, as has been suggested, United will have two fully fit forwards, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood, plus Amad who has never started for them.
Supporters don’t like it when Solskjaer plays one of Fred or Scott McTominay alongside Nemanja Matic, but perhaps all three starting in a different shape would allow the two more energetic midfielders to bomb forward from a diamond.
Fernandes is shouldering lots of responsibility, but at least United have their first choice back four fit to give him a platform against West Ham. Shaw and Lindelof coming back in makes sense.
