Premier League considering decision that will upset Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham fans
The Premier League is considering putting the return of fans to stadiums on hold until next season on the grounds of sporting integrity.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined the roadmap for the United Kingdom to begin to return to normality as the world battles back from the coronavirus pandemic, giving the green light for supporters to potentially return to Premier League stadiums.
Under the government’s plans, the partial return of fans will be allowed in time for the Premier League’s final day on Sunday, May 23rd.
However, the Mirror reports that some clubs harbour concerns as it could lead to an advantage for home sides in the crucial final round of matches.
There is some good news for Tottenham, however, as it’s added that the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley on April 25th could host a limited number of supporters as an experiment.
The FA Cup final, pencilled in for May 15, is also expected to be a test event and there is a possibility that some Premier League games could also be granted test status.
One positive though is the fact it’s looking extremely likely that the stands at football grounds across the country will be back to full capacity next season.
