Daniel James in awe of Manchester United wonderkid Amad Diallo
Speaking to United Review (h/t The Express), Manchester United star Daniel James has been left awestruck by the exploits of wonderkid Amad Diallo in training.
Signed from Atalanta in January, the 18-year-old arrived at the club with much hype. He has so far impressed for the Under-23s and made his first-team bow against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
James believes the youngster has settled in well and has so far shown excellent professionalism. There is nothing more a young player can do, especially when he goes to a new team and a new country.
The Welsh winger also went on to praise Diallo’s technical ability. He has also been praised for displaying the hunger to win back possession and this should meet the demands of the players in red.
As someone who has turned around his fortunes with hard work, James is as well placed as any to make a statement on Diallo’s performances. Hopefully, the 18-year-old will go on to fulfil his potential and be a success at United.
Manchester United fans disagree with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Amad decision ahead of Real Sociedad game
Manchester United fans want to see Amad make his first start for the club against Real Sociedad – even if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already appears to have decided against it.
The La Liga side will travel to Old Trafford on Thursday for the return leg of the round-of-32 tie, with United already holding a 4-0 aggregate lead after the first game in Turin – with a Bruno Fernandes brace and goals from Marcus Rashford and Daniel James securing the win.
The match was also significant as it saw the first-team debut of Amad, as he replaced Mason Greenwood with seven minutes to go to make his first senior appearance since arriving in Manchester from Atalanta in January.
The teenage winger has impressed for the Under-23s since his arrival by racking up three goals and three assists in just two appearances for Neil Wood’s side.
Amad’s form soon earned him a call up to the first-team squad – along with fellow youngster Shola Shoretire, who made his own debut against Newcastle on Sunday – and he has also appeared on the bench in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
With United commanding a powerful position going into the match against Sociedad, with their spot in the last 16 all but guaranteed, there was an expectation that Amad would get to start the game to get yet more valuable experience in a low-pressure environment.
