Romelu Lukaku gives honest verdict on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now dust has settled on Man Utd exit
Romelu Lukaku has given his honest verdict on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being axed from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old left the Red Devils to sign for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019.
With Solskjaer set to start the new season with Marcus Rashford as his main striker, it would have left the Belgian on the sidelines.
Lukaku had struggled for form with the Norweigan at the helm, scoring just six Premier League goals under his stewardship.
Antonio Conte, who tried to sign him as Chelsea manager, made a personal plea to the forward and he joined Inter for £75m. Since then, he has revitalised his career – scoring goals for fun in Serie A.
While conducting a Twitter Q&A, Lukaku was asked what his true thoughts on Solskjaer are.
He replied: “He is doing great. You guys have to know I love him as a manager and as a person and I wish him nothing but the best.”
On Rashford, he added: “He is improving all the time! I love to see him play. One of the most talented played with for sure.”
Lukaku was in impressive form as Inter won the Milan derby at the weekend, scoring in a 3-0 win
Jose Mourinho left red-faced by Man Utd comments after Jesse Lingard haunts former boss
Jose Mourinho was haunted by one of his former players on Sunday as a Jesse Lingard strike helped West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1 at the London Stadium.
Lingard was one of Mourinho’s favourite players during his time in charge of Manchester United between 2016-2018, and the midfielder appeared to flourish working under the Portuguese manager.
After falling out of favour at Old Trafford Lingard joined the Hammers in January on a loan move until the end of the season, and appears to be enjoying himself after scoring three times in four games in claret and blue so far.
And he stuck a dagger in the heart of his old boss as his 47th minute strike put his side 2-0 up and heaped further pressure upon the beleaguered Mourinho’s shoulders. full story
