Arsenal wonderkid delivers update on recovery from injury

Arsenal have several highly-rated young prospects making their way through the academy and one of those starlets is 16-year-old Luigi Gaspar.

Gaspar, who is the son of the Gunners technical director Edu, hasn’t featured for the Under-18’s in a competitive game this season due to injury. However, he’s now revealed on social media that he’ll be ‘back soon’ – a reference showing that his recovery is on the right track.

Arsenal make decision over Christian Eriksen

Arsenal have decided to take a backseat in the pursuit of Christian Eriksen as Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain fight over his signature.

The Gunners are one of several sides who have been offered the chance to sign the Denmark international.

Eriksen has struggled to make an impact at Inter Milan and Antonio Conte is happy to see him leave.

The Italian’s style of football does not suit the 28-year-old, who prefers to play within the lines in the No. 10 role.

In Conte’s 3-5-2, such a role does not exist and he has made just three Serie A starts this campaign.

Arsenal had been linked with the playmaker, despite his Tottenham past, and have been offered a chance to sign him in January.

According to the Express, though, the Gunners will pass up the chance to make a move for the Middelfart-born star.

Dortmund and PSG are set to lock horns over his signature, with both interested in his services.

And at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta has other priorities.

A centre-back is top of his wish list, despite the apparent abundance of defenders at the club.

In total, there are eight – David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari and William Saliba.

However, the former three are out of contract next summer while Saliba has not worked out as planned and looks set to be shipped out on loan in January.

Arteta’s problems are further up the pitch, though, where his side have failed to look threatening.

Only four sides in the Premier League have managed less shots on target while they have not scored in the league for nearly eight hours.

In fact, they have scored just nine times while top threat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has looked stunted on the wing.

The Express further report that Juventus star Merih Demiral has been scouted by the Gunners as they defensive reinforcements.
