Chelsea midfielder opens up on Arsenal’s interest over summer window

Jorginho has spoken about how Arsenal showed an interest in him over the summer and how discussions took place over a switch from Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners made the signing of a new midfielder a priority for the summer transfer window, with Thomas Partey ultimately signed from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, but Jorginho has confirmed he too was a target.

“I believe that every player is open to negotiations,” the Italian told ESPN Brazil, referencing Arsenal’s interest. “So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.

“Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”

Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal departure date has already been revealed by player’s agent

Dr Erkut Sogut, the agent of Mesut Ozil, has called on Arsenal to reveal the reasons for the German playmaker’s omission from the Gunners’ 25-man Premier League squad.

Ozil appears to have played his final match for Arsenal and with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season there have been suggestions that he could be on the move in the January transfer window.

Sogut spoke to ESPN about the treatment of his client, but also revealed during the summer that Ozil’s departure date from the Emirates Stadium has already been decided.

“I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021,” Sogut told Turkish Instagram account futbolgiant in July. “He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”

Former teammate reveals what he told William Saliba after loan move collapse

Harold Moukoudi, a former teammate to William Saliba at Saint-Etienne, has revealed what he told the young defender after failing to secure a loan move away from Arsenal.

Saliba has struggled to settle in since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Ligue 1 over the summer with a loan return to Saint-Etienne on the cards until a late collapse saw the move fall through.

Moukoudi, who spent a period of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, has revealed he spoke to Saliba after the close of the transfer window.

“Willow, I spoke to him,” he told But! Football Club. “I told him to not get weighed down by it and to continue to work. It’ll pay off. With his qualities, I’m convinced he’ll bounce back. He’s got huge potential, no one can deny that. He needs to hang on, take it on the chin and sit tight, but he’ll succeed. That’s for sure.”
