Thomas Partey’s demand from Arteta over Man City clash

Thomas Partey has told Mikel Arteta how to unleash him with Xhaka and Ceballos vs Man City

Thomas Partey has said he’s ready to make his Arsenal debut against Manchester City this weekend.

The Gunners’ first game after the international break sees them make the trip to the Etihad Stadium where they’ll be looking for a first win at the ground since the 2014/2015 season.

And manager Mikel Arteta could return to his former club with his new £45m summer signing in tow.

Partey touched down in the UK on Tuesday for the first time since his deadline day transfer was confirmed and has been training with his new teammates ahead of the big game on Saturday evening.

But will Arteta throw the 27-year-old in at the deep end straight away?

Well, Partey has declared that he’s ready to start against City, but accepts the decision rests with the Arsenal boss as he’s still to familarise himself with the team and the style of play.

“I like to play in the big matches,” he said. “But it all depends on the coach and whether he wants me to play or not. It depends on him.

“I need to get used to the squad and then train before we can see what will happen.

“It’s the decision of Mikel. I just arrived. I’m prepared but I need to get used to the style of play.

“I think I have to be quick, make sure that I learn everything as fast as I can. I have make sure I do everything on the training ground and make sure Mikel sees that I’m ready to play for him.”

Should Partey get the nod he could forge a midfield trio alongside Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos.

When explaining his style of play, the Ghana international has effectively outlined how Arteta can get the best out of him in the engine room.

“I think the most important thing is that I like to play in the midfield, but then wherever I need to play to help the team, I will play there and try my best to help the team,” he added.

I think I have to be quick, make sure that I learn everything as fast as I can.

“In football, I have make sure I do everything on the training ground and make sure Mikel sees that I am ready to play for him.”

£40M Battle for Mendes

There continues to be plenty of Arsenal transfer news going around in the final days of the domestic window.

Although the majority of the Gunners’ transfer activity for the summer is finished, there is still time to do deals with EFL clubs and help some of the fringe players get some experience.

It’s a race against time, however, for all involved, with the domestic transfer deadline set at 5pm on Friday, October 16.

The January transfer window may seem a long way away, but in fact it’s only in two and a half months’ time and already there is talk about some of the deals which might happen.

In light of this, here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours doing the rounds.

Battle for Mendes

Reports in Italy suggest Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all interested in signing Nuno Mendes.

The 18-year-old is a left-back who plays for Sporting in Portugal.

He has already played 11 times for the first team at the Lisbon club and is being tracked by clubs across Europe.

Smith Rowe to stay?

Young attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe could be staying with the Gunners for the foreseeable future.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a loan away from the Emirates with Derby County, Reading and Huddersfield Town all keen on his services.

However, boss Mikel Arteta could keep him around the first-team set-up, according to Goal.
