Ian Wright: Liverpool defeat proves Arsenal need Aouar, Aubameyang Statement after the Liverpool Game.

“Arsenal were starting so deep but what was evident to me was that we didn’t have that person in midfield who was comfortable enough on the ball until Ceballos came on,” Ian Wright told Premier League Productions (h/t Metro).

“[Arsenal need] someone who they can pass the ball to, who is comfortable to receive it with someone on his back, who can pop it off, who can turn it round the corner.

“From there Arsenal can play but we can’t do that at the moment. That’s why it’s imperative we get Aouar from Lyon. He’s someone that can get on the ball and get the forwards going. you saw the chances that Ceballos made when he came on. that’s what Arsenal need.”

Ceballos indeed made the game look livelier after he was brought on in the second half. The Xhaka-Elneny pivot did not progress the ball well enough against Liverpool’s relentless press.

Dani played two through balls to Lacazette and Nketiah, and it was his pass from behind that created that one-on-one situation for the French striker that he so badly missed.

However, the Spaniard is a box-to-box player so perhaps a more advanced midfielder, like Aouar, is needed — even though we have some doubts about that.

Houssem is certainly good when it comes to creating chances from inside the final third with his dribbling skills and ability to make unexpected decisions.

Aubameyang Statement after the Liverpool Game.

Aubameyang has revealed that the Gunners are playing for the Premier League title this season.

The Gabon international has been in fine goalscoring form for Arsenal as the Gunners made an impressive start to the new campaign before the Liverpool game.

They had started last season very poorly and that poor start cost Unai Emery his job, he was replaced by Mikel Arteta who is overseeing one of the club’s most successful times in recent years.

They won the FA Cup last season and they followed that up by winning the Community Shield at the start of this season.

The club has invested in the playing squad in this transfer window and they will be hoping to end this campaign inside the top four.

Even more than that, they will be looking to continue winning trophies and Aubameyang has admitted that winning trophies has created the hunger for even more silverware for the club.

He told Sky Sports: “When you win trophies, you want to win more trophies and this is what it’s about. We want to compete, first of all for the league, I think this is the biggest point. We want to be back in the Champions League, we have to stay humble for sure. We cannot pretend to choose to play for the first place but we want to be part of the teams to compete for the first place and as I say, to stay humble and work hard and in the end try our best to win more trophies.”
