Marina Granovskaia decides Chelsea’s next transfer as Christian Pulisic setback is confirmed

Summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner made their debuts – with the latter playing a big role in the opening goal – but it’s James who scored a high mark.
So, how did the rest of the team fare?
Marina Granovskaia decides Chelsea’s next transfer
No less than six first-team signings have been secured by Chelsea so far this summer transfer window, with Havertz the latest.
The midfielder arrived from Bayern Leverkusen for a club-record fee that could rise to £89million, depending on add-ons, whilst fellow Germany international Timo Werner also joined from RB Leipzig.
Even with the mass influx of quality, the Blues are not done just yet, with Lampard close to signing a new goalkeeper to their ranks to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
footballsocial.online understands Chelsea are expecting to make Mendy their next major summer signing and a deal for the goalkeeper could be completed within days, with an initial fee of £18.47million to be paid, including £2.7m of add-ons.
Once Mendy arrives, Lampard’s attention will switch to bolstering other areas of his squad, as he almost nears the competition of his summer transformation.
Declan Rice has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the last few months, and according to reports, Chelsea will focus on a bid for the former Blues youth player once the Mendy deal is over the line.
Pulisic setback confirmed
Christian Pulisic was not in Chelsea’s squad for the Brighton match – and there’s a worrying reason why.
The USA international suffered a hamstring injury in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal on August 1, but was able to take part in training in the build-up to the game at the Amex.
However, Lampard has confirmed the American suffered an injury setback which is why he didn’t even make the bench.
Conor Gallagher set for West Brom loan
Conor Gallagher will join West Bromwich Albion on loan for the season after putting pen to paper on a new deal at Chelsea.
The central midfielder was expected to join Crystal Palace but that switch was aborted last week when Michy Batshuayi returned to Selhurst Park for a second time on loan.
