Cash injection to fund Mikel Arteta’s fifth signing as Arsenal Defender departure follows after Martínez move.



Mikel Arteta has overseen almost two full transfer window as Arsenal manager. And in that time, the Spaniard has brought in a total of five new players as he aims to restore the Gunners as a top-four side with ambitions of challenging for major honours in the near future.

Willian completed his free transfer from Chelsea after his contract expired at the end of last season, while Gabriel Magalhaes sealed his £25m move from Ligue 1 side Lille last month.

In addition, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares – both of whom were loan signings in the January transfer window – officially became Arsenal players when the summer window opened.

Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos has returned to the Emirates Stadium for another season, but is once again only on loan from Real Madrid.

Bayer eye Kolasinac deal

Bayer Leverkusen are set to hold talks with Arsenal full-back Sead Kolasinac, according to Sport Bild .

Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Kolasinac, who has fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

The former Schalke man is thought to be open to a Bundesliga return with Bayer emerging as clear frontrunners for the 27-year-old’s signature.

While Arsenal’s £9.1million asking price is not thought to be an issue, Kolasinac’s wage demands could yet prove a stumbling block.

Kolasinac joined Arsenal on a free after leaving Schalke in 2017, going on to make 105 appearances for the Gunners.
