Arsenal live: Philippe Coutinho decision, Edu’s Houssem Aouar talks, Arsenal to move on defenders

The Gunners have finally completed the signing of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, but Mikel Arteta is not done yet and the club is still looking to strengthen other areas of the squad, particularly the centre of midfield.

Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey has been closely linked, as well as Lyon captain Houssem Aouar.

As well as that, club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is believed to be close to committing his future to the club by signing a new contract.

Bayern bid farewell to Coutinho

Bayern Munich have bid farewell to Philippe Coutinho in an official statement, with the midfielder to return to Barcelona after his loan spell ended.

The Brazilian international joined Bayern on a season-long loan deal last summer, but the German side did not take up their option to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis.

Arsenal to move on defenders

Arsenal will try to move out some of their seven central defenders in a bid to balance the books, after completing the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes.

Gabriel is still in quarantine after arriving from France last week, but his signing means Rob Holding and Sokratis Papastathopoulos could leave.

The Express report that any number of Sead Kolasinac, Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi and Callum Chambers could also leave.

Arsenal’s Aouar discussions

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are currently in ‘discussions’ to sign Aouar from Lyon.

The Gunners are thought to be on the verge of sealing another loan deal for Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid, but the report claims Mikel Arteta’s side are still keen on landing other central midfielders – including Thomas Partey and Aouar.

Arsenal could fund any potential signings with the sale of Hector Bellerin, with Paris Saint-Germain keen to sign the full-back.

Upamencano confirms talks

RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano has confirmed that discussions have been held with other clubs amid speculation he will soon be on the move.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Premier League following several impressive seasons in Germany, with Arsenal and Manchester United touted as possible destinations.

“I extended in Leipzig, because I feel good with my team-mates and my coach. I’m good at Leipzig,” he said.

“It’s true that I’m in great demand. I speak with clubs, but I’m in no rush and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
