Schalke 04, £100,000 singing deal, Message to Edu about Thomas Partey, Philippe Coutinho revelation, Gabriel latest

Schalke 04 are in the initial stages of discussions with Gunners over a move to bring defender Sead Kolasinac back to the club, according to reports in Germany. Bosnia international made the switch from the German club to Arsenal in 2017 on a free transfer but has faced stiff contest for a place in the side over his three campaigns at the Emirates.

With the addition of Kieran Tierney, last summer and emergence of Bukayo Saka, who filled in for the two players at left-back, Sead has been in and out of the team. Kolasinac is not entirely happy in Arsenal and would like to come back to Germany.

Initial talks have taken place over a possible loan move, in which Sead’s wages would be split between the two teams, however, his earnings are still proving to be a sticking point. The Bosnian is on an annual salary of nearly €8m at London club, while Schalke are unwilling to offer anything above €2.5m, meaning he would need to take a pay cut.

Elsewhere, Gunners are ready to complete the £27m additions of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes. The London giants have been embroiled in a battle with Napoli for his signature, but have now won the battle, fending off late interest from Man United and PSG in the process.

The Brazilian defender is in London for his medical ahead of the proposed move. Bundesliga giants have been badly hit financially by the effects of the covid pandemic, though are said to stay confident of pulling off the agreement.

Message to Edu about Thomas Partey

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn thinks his old club might be beaten to summer target Thomas Partey.

Recent reports have suggested Barcelona may be interested in the Atletico Madrid midfielder, and that could cause some headaches for the Gunners who have chased Partey all summer.

In fact, if Barca’s interest is genuine, it’s rather unlikely Partey will wind up at the Emirates Stadium, or at least according to former former defender Winterburn.

“I’m always a little bit worried when the likes of Barcelona are also interested in your target – even when they’re in disarray – because they’re a huge club and you don’t want to be fighting them for a player, because most clubs would lose out in that situation,” he told

Coutinho latest

Marca report that Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs to have enquired about Philippe Coutinho.

The Gunners have long been linked with the former Liverpool star and the latest report confirms he still wishes to return to the Premier League.

New Barca boss Ronald Koeman is set to sit down with Coutinho in order to discuss his future at the Nou Camp.

Gabriel’s agent explains Arsenal choice

Gabriel Magalhaes’ agent Guilherme Miranda has revealed that the influence of Arteta and Edu persuaded his client to join Arsenal.

The Lille defender is yet to be officially announced as a Gunner, but it seems a matter of when, not if, he joins Arteta’s side.

It seems like Arteta, alongside Edu, had the biggest say over the highly sought-after Brazilian centre-back.
