Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang teases Arsenal fans with cryptic contract hint in social media post

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken to Twitter this evening, posting a cryptic message that has sparked speculation about his Arsenal future.

The Gabon international, who joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund back in January 2018, is out-of-contract at the Emirates Stadium at the end of June next year and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

After an outstanding 2019/20 campaign, scoring 29 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions, including a brace in this month’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, a whole host of clubs have been heavily linked with signing the striker this summer, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG and Real Madrid amongst others.

Aubameyang would most likely be available for a cheaper fee this summer, with Arsenal more than likely prepared to take a cut-price transfer fee opposed to losing him for nothing next summer, though the club are confident that he will commit his future to the Gunners.

Now, Aubameyang, as he has on several occasions in recent weeks, has dropped a teasing hint on social media this evening, presumably about his Arsenal future once again.

On Twitter, the striker has posted four dots an egg timer emoji, suggesting that he or the fans are waiting for something to happen, potentially the news about him putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium being announced.

The striker’s cryptic message has certainly got Arsenal fans excited, with waves of them reacting on social media.

One wrote: “Tears in my eyes.”

Another said: “Bro, don’t play with our hearts like this.”

Though Aubameyang has not specifically said about what the tweet is about, it is almost certain that it relates to his Arsenal future.

Earlier this month, Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta reiterated his confidence that Aubameyang would extend his stay with the Gunners this summer.

Speaking after the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea, Arteta told the BBC: “He knows what I think about him.

“He is loved by everybody at the club. Hopefully he can continue with us.”

Directly asked if he will extend his contract, Arteta added: “I think he will, yes.”
